Over the past ten years, illegal logging and climate change have devastated the woods in Odisha's Rayagada area. Whole areas that were previously brimming with wildlife have turned into arid, parched areas. In addition to destroying biodiversity, the loss of tree cover has denied local Adivasi communities access to stable soil, clean air, shade, and forest products.
To begin a forestry push, our non-profit company, Jeevan Dhaara Foundation, has been collaborating with the local villagers. The objective? to restore 15 hectares of lost forest land by planting 10,000 native trees over the course of the following six months.
These natural trees, which are drought-resistant, support local wildlife, and enhance soil quality, include banyan, neem, sal, mango, and jackfruit.
We have already obtained community labor support and land. Now, we require the funds to:
Buy seedlings from nearby nurseries.
Install water tanks throughout the first growing year.
Employ eco-guards to prevent illicit logging.
This project will cost ₹9.5 lakh in total. We can bring this delicate ecosystem back into balance and leave a green legacy for next generations with your help.
